Christmas in Mexico

In Mexico, we start our Christmas celebration with our traditional "posadas". In these posadas, we celebrate a big party with lots of traditional mexican food, the principal are the tamales and hot chocolate. These posadas happen between the days of december 16th and december 25th.

After the posadas, it comes the Christmas Day. On December 24th, families get together to have dinner where they cook turkey, ham, punch, smash potatoes, "buñuelos", and more. On December 25th, children may receive their gift from Santa Claus or "el niñito Dios" (baby Jesus). They previously write a letter to one of them asking for their gift and "send" it.

What other things do you know we do here in Mexico to celebrate Christmas?
